Ash Avildsen discusses the cast of 'Queen Of The Ring'.
The Mildred Burke biopic is set to hit theaters on March 7, just a little under two years after the film was announced in 2023. The cast list is loaded with current and former wrestling names like Toni Storm, Kamille, Britt Baker, Naomi, Jim Cornette, and Mickie James.
Notably, Toni Storm plays the role of Clara Mortensen, while Kamille plays the role of June Byers. Originally, two WWE stars were set for the movie, with Charlotte Flair was set to play the role of Byers and Liv Morgan set to play the role of Clara Mortensen.
While speaking with Humza of the Wrestling In Film podcast for a new interview, Ash Avildsen, the director of 'Queen Of The Ring', stated that he was happy with how everything worked out.
“[Kamille], this is her first acting gig. She came in through an audition when Charlotte fell out because of the WWE stuff. I’m really happy it worked out the way it did just because seeing how it went and being so happy with it — It’s not that Charlotte and Liv wouldn’t have been terrific as well, but just knows that it worked out and i love it how it is, I’m like, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. Wrestling gods, film gods, thank you.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Avildsen expanded on his praise of Kamille and Toni Storm. Check out his full comments here.
