Austin Aries likes it when Impact Wrestling goes outside of the United States.
On Sunday, Austin Aries faced Moose in an Impact Wrestling World Championship match at Slammiversary XVII. Before the event, he was interviewed by Toronto Sun as the event was being held in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In the interview, Aries said the fans of Canada and other places outside of the United States get excited for a big event like Slammiversary.
"In some ways, there’s a commonality. When we think of a wrestling fan, a certain image pops in our head. But when you talk about the Canadian fans or anything outside of the U.S., it’s a little more special because they don’t get it as often. So it’s a big deal when Impact Wrestling comes up there and puts on one of their marquee shows for the year, fans get excited because it makes them feel special. It is special," said Aries.
Aries defended his World Championship on Sunday but the event also featured other Championship matches including a new X-Division Champion being crowned.
Fightful Wrestling had live coverage and a recapping podcast for the event.
