Any time Becky Lynch takes the microphone for WWE, she tries to make sure that the words she speaks sound like something she actually would say.
Lynch discussed how much input and control she has on WWE promos during a recent appearance on The Ross Report podcast with Jim Ross.
"I've got more control of tweaks than overall promo writing, if that makes sense," she said. "So when I see something, I'll be like, 'Well, I probably wouldn't word it like that. They're not words that I, as Rebecca Quin, would use, so it's going to be maybe difficult for me to deliver that believably' and I always want to sound like I'm just talking, as opposed to delivering a promo or some sort of speech, you know? I just try to look at it and make sure that whatever I'm saying has some depth that people can get behind."
One of Lynch's goals when tweaking promos is to make sure she is using more active phrases than passive ones.
"It's just constantly trying to sound like I'm fighting for something," she said. "And then just make sure it's my own words, as opposed to sounding like lines that aren't words I would use in regular conversation."
Lynch should have a high comfort level as a public speaker. She earned a degree in acting in her native Ireland, and put that acting education to work late last year filming a role in The Marine 6. During the interview with Ross, Lynch revealed she would be playing a villainous character in the movie, which also stars The Miz and Shawn Michaels.
Lynch will be in action August 19 at Summerslam, challenging Carmella for the Smackdown Women's Title in a Triple Threat that includes Charlotte Flair.
