For the first time ever, the NXT Women's Championship will be defended at WrestleMania.
The bout will feature NXT Women's Champion Rhea Ripley defending against the most decorated women's wrestler in WWE history Charlotte Flair. The match came together after Flair won the Women's Royal Rumble and was challenged by Ripley to challenge her at WrestleMania.
But Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch wonders if an NXT talent shouldn't be in the challenger's spot.
"It's pretty cool. I wonder if an NXT person should have gotten the chance to fight for it, but such is the way things fall or such is the way things are privileged. It's awesome to see it defended at WrestleMania and to see where it's come now, there was like a lull for the women in NXT for a little while and now it's picked up again. It's super strong and it makes me super excited because there are a lot of competitors that I can see come challenge me for a title and offer me some good fights and realize that The Man is on a whole different level. But being in NXT and growing that way and changing the landscape of it forever and women's wrestling forever; hugely important to me," she told Entrevista.
Lynch never held the NXT Women's Championship, but she's the longest-reigning Raw Women's Champion in history, coming up on one year as champion. She successfully defended her Raw Women's Title against Shayna Baszler at WrestleMania 36.
