Bianca Belair had almost no time to prepare for her SummerSlam match against Becky Lynch.
After being off television since May 2020 following her pregnancy announcement, Becky Lynch returned at WWE SummerSlam and defeated Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women's Championship in a lightning-quick 26-seconds. Belair was originally supposed to face Sasha Banks in a rematch of their WrestleMania main event, but The Boss was pulled from the event due to unforeseen circumstances.
Speaking to Inside The Ropes’ Kenny McIntosh, Bianca revealed that it wasn't until the very last minute that she would be facing off with Lynch. Here were her full remarks:
“It was pretty much very, very, very, very, very last minute. Pretty much when I was in the ring up – until the time that I went out [to the ring]. Very late call, very late moment, everything, all the emotions that you saw in my face during the match at SummerSlam, were real emotions, shock. Kind of just like, ‘Wow, this is happening. Ok, let’s go with it and just be great at what you do.’ So it was a very, very last minute call.”
After winning a #1 Contenders Match a few weeks ago on SmackDown, Belair earned the championship rematch The Man kept denying. She will try to recapture the belt at Extreme Rules when she goes one on one with Becky.
Fightful will have live coverage of WWE Extreme Rules on Sunday, September 26 beginning at 7 p.m. EST.
