Lee McAteer Talks PROGRESS Possibly Becoming A WWE ID Promotion

At the company's Forged In Excellence event, Rocky Romero made his presence known, competing in two different tag team bouts on both nights of the show. On night one, Romero teamed with Trevor Lee and Alex Zayne in a losing effort against Josh Alexander, Stu Grayson, and El Phantasmo. The next night, Romero teamed with Rohit Raju and Rohan Raja in another losing effort against Aiden Prince and the Jet Setters (Kevin Knight & KUSHIDA).

While chatting with Fightful for a new interview, Romero praised Scott D'Amore for putting together a great in-ring product and a friendly atmosphere backstage. Romero also hinted at a partnership between NJPW and Maple Leaf Pro.

"It was awesome. I thought both nights were really, really good. I thought Scott has put together not only a great in-ring product and talent wise and talent pool, but also backstage. He's got a great set of people that he's working with. I thought it looked amazing and I think he'll be a pretty strong partner for New Japan as well, especially in America and Canada. We've been talking to Scott about a lot of cool projects that we might be able to do next year."

Romero also went on to praise D'Amore for bringing an authentic Canadian product to the world of wrestling.

"Like you said, it's cool to see a Canadian, an actual Canadian product. It's been so long since there's been a real strong Canadian product to come out of Canada that has primarily Canadian talent. Then also he's a guy who I've seen that does a lot of the things that I do and create relationships with other companies and be very pro that. So he's always been a breeze to work with and he's a good guy. I wish him nothing but success and I think that there's definitely some space for New Japan Strong and New Japan to work with him."
