Bobby Lashley Says He's 'Black Superman,' Wants To Win WWE World Title For 'Kids Who Look Like Him'

To Bobby Lashley, representation is important. That's why he says he still wants to win the WWE World Championship in an effort to inspire “kids that look like him.”

Bobby Lashley is the current WWE United States Champion. He won that championship after defeating Apollo Crews at WWE Payback. This is Bobby's second United States Championship and he has also held the now-defunct ECW Championship as well as the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Even though Lashley has been a World Champion outside of WWE, he still desires to have his name in the pantheon of former WWE Champions but not just for himself.

“I’ve got the United States title, and that’s an amazing accomplishment, but I need a stamp on my career,” said Lashley to Sports Illustrated. “That’s the WWE Championship, and the opportunity is there for me. I’m the ‘Black Superman,’ and that world title is what I need. I just need to stay healthy, keep kicking ass, and continue moving forward.

“If I win that world title, I’ll always be known as a former world champion. I want to do that for myself, I want to do that for my children, and I also want to do it for the kids that look like me.”

Lashley also spoke about the presentation of The Hurt Business being important to him as it breaks from traditional wrestling stereotypes.

“We’re not thugs, we’re dressed clean. We’re businessmen, Black businessmen. We’ve been in this business a long time, and that’s how we conduct ourselves. We have put in the work and we’re going to continue to do that.”

The Hurt Business just added a fourth member in Cedric Alexander. Alexander turned on Ricochet on the 9/7 episode of WWE Raw. Learn more at this link.
