Booker T says he is now full-time with NXT.
WWE announced new commentary teams on October 6, 2022. Among other changes, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T joined Vic Joseph on NXT, while Joseph's partner Wade Barrett moved to SmackDown.
Speaking on his podcast, The Hall of Fame, Booker T revealed that he is now a full-time member of the NXT commentary team. He noted that his time with the role was supposed to end in December, but instead he's has joined the brand full-time. Booker T then joked that Barrett is gone and forgotten.
"I gotta get back to work. NXT duties start tomorrow. My thing is, that job was only supposed to be until the end of December. But like I said, what’s that kid’s name that used to work there? Wade Barrett, he’s gone and forgotten, as you can see," Booker T said with a laugh.
When asked to elaborate, Booker T repeated that he is now with NXT full-time. The legend noted that he doesn't know what Barrett's future holds, but he joked that he won't be coming back to NXT. Booker joked that he stole the spot, and he's like Tom Brady, as he won't come out of the game once the ball is in his hands. Booker went on to make it clear that he's excited, even if he didn't expect the shift to the full-time position.
“That’s my job now, full-time. I’m full-time on NXT. I’m gonna be in your ear, all up in your ear [laughs]. Every Tuesday night. Wade Barrett, I don’t know if they gonna keep him on, find a spot for him over on Raw, SmackDown or something. But his ass ain’t coming back to NXT. He’s finished, he’s wrapped. Bad news for you. Booker T has stole that spot. I told you guys I was gonna steal it. You don’t give me a job and expect for somebody to come [back]. I’m like Tom Brady. Once I get in the game, I ain’t coming out. I’m serious man. The thing is, if wasn’t something that I was expecting or anything like that, but I’m excited about it. I’m excited about his new venture," Booker T said.
