Booker T Sees Potential In Giovanni Vinci, Believes He's In The Process Of Finding Himself

Booker T weighs in on the repackaged Giovanni Vinci.

Giovanni Vinci recently re-debuted on WWE SmackDown, losing to Apollo Crews in seconds. Vinci has currently been repackaged with a version of his singles gimmick that he used in WWE NXT 2.0 before he was called up to the main roster to once again be paired with Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser in Imperium.

Booker T, who is no stranger to finding yourself outside of a tag team and going through the occasional gimmick change, has gone on record saying that he sees potential in Vinci. Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T noted he believes Vinci is just figuring out who he is and learning how to be something outside of Gunther's henchman.

“Yeah, I’ve been watching the new Giovanni Vinci. I thought this guy had a great look. His work is not bad either. I really think coming in with Imperium, put him in that group thing and kind of maybe lost him in the shuffle a little bit. Any time you’re playing a second to Gunther, you’re gonna be playing second. So trying to repackage him and trying to get him back out there again, I see that, and I understand because he is a guy that you do want to get in the mix, and I just don’t think it was a good thing, him actually being part of Imperium when he first came in. It’s just like Ludwig [Kaiser], same thing with him. He’s trying to figure out how to not be Gunther’s second. He’s really good, he’s got a good character. But he’s got to figure out who he is as opposed to just Gunther’s second."

Vinci recently fought Apollo Crews again, and even though he didn't lose in seconds, he still lost. However, he got more immediate vengeance after the match the second time around. Learn more here.
