Braun Strowman: The Intercontinental Title Was Designed To Be In My Hands More Than Anyone Else's

Braun Strowman is in search of his first taste of WWE singles gold. Strowman recently defeated Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura and has been angling for a shot at the title. Thus far, WWE has not announced an Intercontinental Championship bout between Nakamura and Strowman.

Speaking to Dallas News, Strowman discussed working with Shinsuke and his old rival Sami Zayn.

Nick Aldis: There Is No Ceiling For WWE. Literally, None.

“I don’t know if it’s I can’t get away from him, or poor Sami can’t get away from me. He just keeps happening to end up in my crosshairs. Talking about Shinsuke Nakamura, this is the first opportunity I’ve had to work with him here in his stint with WWE. I’ve been pretty impressed so far. … It’s been a different change of pace being in the ring and mixing it up with Shinsuke. And I think what the outcomes have been these past couple outings that we’ve had, I’ve without a doubt earned myself a title opportunity for that Intercontinental Championship. We’re going to see what the powers that be will have [to say] -- you never know, the last SmackDown leading into the Royal Rumble here coming up in Dallas, if they’ll give me that opportunity to take on Shinsuke for the title before we go into the Royal Rumble," he said.

Nakamura recently debuted a redesigned Intercontinental Championship. Fans had a mixed reaction to the belt as it was vastly different from the original design.

When asked about the newly redesigned Intercontinental Champion, Strowman commented, “Yeah, I like redesign of it, a little more dark and ominous. It looks like it might have been more designed per se to be in my hands than anybody else’s.”

While Strowman vs. Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship has yet to be announced, both men will participate in the Men's Royal Rumble. You can find a full list of entrants by clicking here.
