Fightful Select reported the following:
Braun Strowman's release was likely the most surprising to fans, but to talent close to the situation, it didn't seem to be. Several that we spoke to said that Strowman's contract, signed in 2019, was a monster deal, and that he very much knew his worth when negotiating with the company. His contract came down to the wire in the summer of 2019, and he was signed well into 2023, for what WWE sources claim was over $1 million per year. Strowman was said to have been very private about negotiating the deal until it was finalized.
As a singles star, Strowman would win the WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 36 by defeating Goldberg. He was a late replacement for Roman Reigns in the match.
He held the WWE Universal Title for 151 days, losing it to "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt.
"The Monster Among Men" last wrestled at WWE WrestleMania Backlash, losing to Bobby Lashley in a triple threat match that also featured Drew McIntyre. The bout also featured Drew McIntyre. Strowman was a big part of WrestleMania 37, picking up a victory over Shane McMahon in a cage match.
Strowman also won the Intercontinental Title, Raw Tag Team Titles, Money in the Bank, the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and the Greatest Royal Rumble during his time in WWE.
He signed a four-year deal with the company in July 2019.
Strowman made the following tweet after news of his release:
