Cain Velasquez believes he will be in this year's Royal Rumble match and that he can win the whole thing.
Speaking to The Sun to help promote WWE's move to BT Sport in the UK, Velasquez confirmed his entry into the Royal Rumble match at the upcoming event of the same name taking place on January 26. It should be noted that WWE has yet to officially confirm Velasquez's participation in the match, or the pay-per-view itself for that matter.
"I think I'm doing it, right, I think so. I can win it, hell yeah, that's my mentality for everything. For everyone as well, that is how your mentality has to be. I'm going in to win this thing," Velasquez said.
Velasquez hasn't appeared on WWE television since losing in Brock Lesnar in two minutes and 10 seconds at WWE Crown Jewel on October 31. He made his WWE debut on the SmackDown on Fox premiere on October 4, showing up at the end of the show to confront Lesnar. It had been previously reported that Velasquez would be present at the Royal Rumble with no specifics on what his role would be.
Winning the Royal Rumble would reward Velasquez with a championship opportunity at WrestleMania later this year. That could mean a shot at Lesnar's WWE Championship and a rematch of their match from Crown Jewel. Although he isn't sure when the two would wrestle each other again, Velasquez said he is confident it will happen at some point.
"I don't know if it's going to be 2020, but the trilogy will happen some time or another. The more I am here, the more time we spend in between, I am getting better and better," Velasquez said.
Even if Velasquez's entry into the Royal Rumble match hasn't been confirmed as of this writing, nearly two-thirds of the entrants for the men's Royal Rumble match have been revealed.
