Carlito talks about the shift away from his iconic theme song.
Carlito returned to WWE at WWE Fastlane and one iconic part of his presentation has changed. Carlito no longer has his original theme song that he began using in 2004.
Much like many modern-day WWE Superstars, Carlito has had a new theme song created for him, erasing some of the moments and memories that made him a star while also embracing new moments in memories that can take him further.
Speaking about the change in theme song, Carlito told The Ringer that he had not been a fan of the initial change but the song has since grown on him.
"It’s a little different. I like to do something a little different," said Carlito. "You gotta change with the times a little bit. I wanted to kind of keep the cool going, but come out with something new. From what I’ve heard, people aren’t crazy about the new theme song yet, I wasn’t either, maybe it’s one of those things that will grow on you later on.
"I had a little bit. They ran it by me. They wanted to change it, I wasn’t crazy about changing it," Carlito continued. "I, like everyone else, wanted to keep it. I like it the way it was, but you know, they said they wanted to change it. Alright, let’s see what we can do. They asked me for my input here and there. ‘Needs more pace here, need more drums.’ Little things like that. The lines, I wanted to change, I didn’t want the old lines from before. I wasn’t crazy about it, but it's almost like earworms where I would be humming it to myself during the day. They send it to you and you listen a thousand times and I’d find myself humming it without noticing. It grew on me a little bit. Maybe, hopefully, I know people don’t like change. I’m not crazy about change. I think it’s something that needed to be done and something to put a fresh coat of paint on everything."
Carlito is now back on SmackDown along with the Latino World Order.
Elsewhere in this podcast, Carlito spoke about Bad Bunny and his involvement at WWE Backlash. Read more here.
