Chelsea Green And Piper Niven Discuss Their New Partnership, Green Teases Holding More Auditions

Chelsea Green teases that she doesn't know if Piper Niven is the right fit.

WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Chelsea Green started holding auditions for a new tag team partner after Sonya Deville went down with a torn ACL. Various prospective partners threw their hats on the ring, but on the August 14 episode of WWE Raw, Piper Niven took the other tag team title and announced herself as Green's new partner.

Grudge Match Added To Monday's WWE Raw

Speaking on WWE's The Bump, Green was asked how she made the decision to pick Niven.

“I’m actually gonna have to speak to a manager about this entire thing. I’m not sure that she’s completely the right fit. But we’re gonna figure that out," Green said.

Niven then joined the call, and Green immediately changed her tune. She welcomed her new partner and expressed her excitement.

"We were just talking about how you’re the perfect fit for Chelsea’s Got Talent," Green said.

Niven was asked whether she wanted to make sure that Green understood she was acting in her best interest by stepping up and taking the title.

“Absolutely. When I saw these auditions going out on social media and just [anyone] thought they had a chance, I thought, ‘This girl has no idea what she’s doing. Any psychopath could have won it and taken advantage of her.’ What kind of predicament would she have been in then?" Niven said.

Green subsequently made it clear that she wanted Niven to know that she was excited to team up with her. She stated that they would make a great team.

“I don’t know if Piper heard this, but I’m super, super excited to get started with her. I can’t. We’re gonna make the best team," Green said.

When Niven was asked to discuss her motivation for joining forces with Green, she emphasized that she thinks she was the best choice for Chelsea's partner. Niven stated that the two of them stood the best chance of running the division.

“Listen, credit where credit is due. Chelsea and Sonya, they went and won the titles, and i respect them for a lot for the way they handle things. They get things done. However, as we’ve seen, Chelsea tends to think about Chelsea. She’s a little low on self-awareness. As I said, anybody could have ended up in that room, so I saw an opportunity and thought, ‘No, this is how we’re gonna handle this.’ Now, she can be as loud as she wants, and she can be as annoying as she likes, but I’m here to get the real work done. With the two of us together, I think we have most chance out of anybody to run this place," Niven said.

Niven briefly left the call, and Green shifted back to her previous tone, as she stated that she's going to talk to Adam Pearce about the situation. She teased that she could hold more "Chelsea's Got Talent" auditions.

“Like I was saying, we’re gonna talk to Adam Pearce about that. We’re gonna figure out if this really works. I’m still not totally above holding auditions, but we’ll see what happens," Green said.

Niven joined the call again, and Green went back to acting like she was thrilled about their partnership. Piper then expressed her confidence that they would be a successful duo.

However, Green is clearly keeping her options open, at least for now. Fans will have to wait and see how this new partnership plays out.
