Cody Rhodes Says John Cena Is Paler Than Sting At Starrcade 1997

Cody Rhodes lays out John Cena one more time on WWE SmackDown.

Before Rhodes could say a word, he was interrupted by Cena in the final segment before WrestleMania 41.

Cena said Sunday will be his last WrestleMania and that he has nothing left to lose. Cena said no one belives in a wrestling retirement because every wrestler is a pathetic loser who comes crawling back, but he has love and joy in his life, so he doesn't need the fans.

Cena said when he had spoke with Rhodes at WrestleMania XL after he won the Undisputed Title, he told him every day the title gets heavier and on Sunday it becomes too heavy. Cena said Rhodes cares too much about what the fans think, and that's why he'll lose.

Cena said when he won at Elimination Chamber, he knew it would be impossible to beat him at WrestleMania, but he changed all that when he turned down The Rock's offer. Cena said when Rhodes made his choice, he knew he could beat him and that Rhodes doesn't even stand a chance.

"Sunday, in order to beat me, you're going to have to choose. Do you do what they think is right or do you win? You're tough, strong, and driven, but you're also scared, insecure, and naive. You wear this suit and have that tattoo because you want to be somebody. On Sunday, you don't need the tattoo or suit because I will make you somebody," said Cena.

Cena said on Sunday Rhodes will realize that he's not the captain or quarterback, he's just a kid without the balls to be the last real champion.

As Rhodes began to speak, the crowd booed him. "This is who you fight for?" asked Cena.

Rhodes asked if he knew the names of the people backstage, saying that WWE has changed. Rhodes said that Cena is overrated, he's on his last legs, and that he's paler than Sting at Starrcade 1997. Rhodes almost mentioned Cena going naked at the Oscars. "It is 2025 and you still can't wrestle."

Cena called the crowd idiots and said on Sunday, he doesn't have to wrestle. Cena hit Rhodes with a cheap shot and went for the AA, but Rhodes countered and laid out Cena with the Cross Rhodes.
