Chris Jericho Appears At New Year Dash, Attacks Tetsuya Naito

It wasn't one and done.

Chris Jericho made an appearance at the last moments of New Year Dash last night, attacking Tetsuya Naito just as he was about to leave the ring following a successful main event. The two brawled, with Jericho becoming incensed each time Tetsuya Naito mocked him by lying in the ring or sitting on a chair, exuding tranquillo. Jericho was eventually taken away backstage as Naito stood tall.

There is some backstory behind this, at least in a non-kayfabe manner -- Naito seemed flippant when talking to Yahoo Japan recently about Wrestle Kingdom 12 being a double main event, saying it was he and Okada who were headlining the show. Jericho wasn't happy about that, saying it was New Japan that was calling it a double main event, not him, and if he didn't like it, tough luck, it's pro wrestling.

It'll be interesting to see if this is a future match for the New Beginning shows, or somewhere later down the line. In a recent NJPW Fight-Size update, it was noted that Chris Jericho is free the week of Strong Style Evolved.
