Chris Jericho Says Former ROH Wrestler Helped Develop "The List"

At 46-years old, Chris Jericho is fresh off of one of his best runs ever.

With additions of "The List" and other popular catchphrases, Jericho reached another highlight of his career in 2016 and 2017. When speaking to Bailey and Southside, Jericho credited former ROH wrestler Jimmy Jacobs in helping him.

“Working with this guy who’s a writer in the WWE, Jimmy Jacobs. He used to be a wrestler. He came up to me and said, ‘what if we do something where you put somebody on this list?’ I’m like, ‘I knew this guy once who had a list of people he didn’t like. That sounds funny.’ So I said it and it got a reaction. The whole concept of The List went through the roof. The List is more popular than 85% of the guys on the show. The List is more popular than I am. You just never know what’s going to make an impression with fans,” said Jericho

"Stupid idiot" was another signature phrase that got over, something that Vince McMahon thought was in large part to Jericho being the man he is.

"They’re chanting it now, and I remember when I started saying that. Vince (said) ‘nobody could say this, nobody can get away with this, but you can. You’re the only guy in the world who could do this’ .When I started using ‘stupid idiot,’ it got heat. I would call the fans, ‘you’re a stupid idiots’ and they’d be like, ‘boo!’ and then, like everything else, suddenly people loved it," Jericho recalled.

The former WWE, WCW and World Heavyweight Champion is currently on tour with his band Fozzy, taking a break from WWE.
