Chris Jericho says AEW was fully aware of who leaked the news of Eric Bischoff's appearance in AEW on Reddit and very firmly stated that this person would never be back working for the promotion again.
On the August 5 episode of AEW Dynamite, Eric Bischoff returned to wrestling on the TNT Network when he moderated a debate between orange Cassidy and Chris Jericho. News of Bischoff's appearance was leaked on Reddit well before the episode aired and Chris Jericho says AEW knows the “NXT reject” that played the spy.
“Social media is a different ball of wax, though. I think the amount of people who are on social media is very small compared to the overall people watching,” Jericho said. “For example, when we had the debate and Eric Bischoff was announced on Reddit -- and we know the spy is, by the way. Oh, we know. He'll never fucking be back in AEW. [An] NXT reject was a spy, so print that,” Jericho said in his most recent Q&A.
Chris continued, “I was like, listen, we can announce this or we can just not announce it and don't worry about it and see, you know, the people that know will know and maybe they'll watch if they weren't going to. The people that don't know, will still be surprised. That's exactly what happened. People were super surprised that Bischoff was there and it worked out great.”
AEW has had several recently-released NXT superstars at their tapings. One recently released name that is doing quite well for herself is Tay Conti. Chris Jericho recently praised her work in the AEW women's tag team tournament, of which she is now in the semi-finals alongside her partner, Anna Jay.
