Claudio Castagnoli still has designs on testing himself against some of the best wrestlers in AEW.
The catchphrase lately has been, "AEW: Where the best wrestle." There is perhaps nobody who embodies that slogan more than Claudio Castagnoli. The solid and dependable foundation of the Blackpool Combat Club, Castagnoli does not have a resume of main event matches equal to the likes of Bryan Danielson or Jon Moxley, but he does have the respect of everyone that's ever stepped across a ring from him and he continues to want to prove himself against talents that he has yet to face.
Following his victory in his first-ever match with Johnny TV, Claudio Castagnoli spoke in a digital exclusive video about his desire to continue to let his actions in between the ropes speak louder than his words and named Kyle O'Reilly and Katsuyori Shibata as two of his dream opponents.
"This is an appeal to those of you watching," Castagnoli began. "This doesn't just go for wrestling. This goes for life. Try to make up your own opinion. I urge you to watch the show tonight. I'm sure you've watched the show on Wednesday. Pay attention to what people are there, what people put in the work, and what people just stand there and [talk] all the time, telling you things that you may want to hear, things that sway your opinion a certain way. Don't listen. One of the best [pieces of] advice I've ever gotten was to just watch. Observe. Take it in, build your own opinion, and you will see, things may not be as they seem. Don't be a drone. Don't just copy and paste. Don't just retweet. Don't just regard to take something you heard. Make your own opinion.
"Johnny TV, one of the most physically gifted and athletic opponents I've ever been in the ring with. First time. Any day, any opponent who wants to wrestle me; I've never wrestled [Katsuyori] Shibata one-on-one. I've never wrestled Kyle O'Reilly one-on-one. I want to experience that firsthand. I want to know how good those people are. That's what the BCC is all about. We don't just take your word for it. We need to know."
