Claudio Castagnoli On William Regal's AEW Status: We're Going To Need A BCC Group Meeting

Claudio Castagnoli became a member of the Blackpool Combat Club at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door when he replaced Bryan Danielson against Zack Sabre Jr.

William Regal founded BCC alongside Jon Moxley and Danielson when he brought the two together following their match at AEW Revolution.

In recent months, there has been tension in BCC with Danielson failing to recruit Daniel Garcia, which upset Wheeler Yuta, and Regal turning on Moxley to help MJF win the AEW World Title. Regal is reportedly leaving AEW and returning to WWE as his AEW contract reportedly expired in December.

Speaking to Joey Hayden of Dallas Morning News, Claudio Castagnoli was asked about the current status of the BCC and Regal.

"I mean, I guess we have to … we have to wait and see. You know, we’re still talking, I think we have to have a little group meeting to figure out what’s next, or if there’s a next. So yeah, I’ll leave it at that," he said.

Asked what it meant to him to be working with Regal since he arrived in AEW, Claudio said, "I never stop learning from him. He’s the reason I got into WWE in the first place back in 2011, and he was one of the reasons why I really, you know, felt at home when I got to AEW because he was there. I was also the man who ended his career. So, I feel like there’s that connection there. There’s that respect. If you share the ring with somebody, there has to be a connection, especially when it’s somebody like William Regal. And I always learn from him, just the fact to be around him as much as I have been in the last couple of months in AEW, and to be around him not just in the back but also in front of the camera, it’s been emotional.”

On December 4, Fightful Select reported, "sources in AEW all are operating on the assumption that he's leaving, and WWE sources are operating on the assumption he's rejoining the company."

Claudio is set to challenge Chris Jericho for the ROH World Title at ROH Final Battle on Saturday. Fans can check out the current lineup by clicking here.
