Punk has been absent from All Elite Wrestling since the All Out pay-per-view in September 2022, where he was involved in a backstage fight with The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks). Following those events, Punk was stripped of the AEW World Championship and seemingly suspended from the promotion. The Elite were also suspended from the company, but the trio would go on to make their return at the Full gear pay-per-view in November 2022.
