CM Punk has advice for AEW.
While fans continue to wait for CM Punk to show up on WWE or AEW programming, Punk continues to promote his new film "Girl on the Third Floor," doing interviews where he is asked about wrestling. Many former WWE wrestlers who now work for AEW have voiced their displeasure over the lack of creative freedom in WWE. Even though Punk is not an AEW wrestler, he has openly aired his gripes with how WWE is run.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Punk was asked for his opinion on the relationship between AEW and WWE.
"Yeah. I think AEW needs to focus on themselves and stop talking about WWE," he said. "Cody and The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, all those guys have something great going on. I just think it lessens and cheapens what they are doing when they constantly attack WWE. There hasn't been an alternative to WWE in so very long, and I think they do a disservice to themselves when they're trying to be the alternative but constantly bring up WWE. But I understand, when people ask you the questions during the interviews you have to answer them. But that's just part of life. You have to learn how to navigate that. I would like them to just try to focus on their product and building it up and making it better. I think that would benefit all the fans."
Cody mentioned "the company we used to work for" while speaking to Jericho in his promo Wednesday on AEW Dynamite, and Jericho has dissed WWE's "bad creative" in a past promo.
As for Punk, it is unknown if or when he will show up in wrestling again. He recently tested for a gig on WWE Backstage, but stated that he did not hear back from Fox. You can read his full comments by clicking here.
