CM Punk Cleared, Set To Face Drew McIntyre At WWE SummerSlam; Seth Rollins To Serve As Guest Referee

CM Punk is cleared.

Punk came out to a rapturous reception on the July 22 edition of Raw, making his first appearance in weeks. The 'Best In The World' got right to the news, revealing that he was cleared for in-ring action by his doctor on Saturday, July 20.

Drew McIntyre came out and made a beeline for Punk before deciding to stop just before getting to the ring. McIntyre claimed that the match between him and Punk was made for a bigger stage than Green Bay. Punk tried to charge at McIntyre, but officials kept him away.

After some taunting from McIntyre, Adam Pearce hit the ring and announced that Punk will face Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam. Pearce also noted that the match will be canceled if either man lays a hand on the other before the premium live event.

Pearce then brought out Seth Rollins. Moments later, Rollins announced that he will be the special guest referee for the match between Punk and McIntyre at SummerSlam.

This will be McIntyre and Punk's first time competing against each other since starting a feud during the Men's Royal Rumble match in January. During the feud, Punk has been unable to compete due to injury.
