CMLL's Atlantis is joining MLW Battle Riot VII on April 5.
He will be a part of the titular Battle Riot match. This year's Battle Riot is for the MLW World Title. His son, Atlantis Jr., will also be in the match.
LOS ANGELES – Major League Wrestling (MLW) today announced Atlantis will participate in the 40-wrestler Battle RIOT match at MLW Battle RIOT VII on Saturday, April 5 at Thunder Studios Arena in greater Los Angeles, CA and presented live on YouTube.
-- While Battle RIOT VII is currently sold out, more tickets will be made available at http://www.MLWLA.com and at Eventbrite starting this Wednesday at 10am PT. REMINDER: MLW has upgraded to a larger venue to host its LA debut: the Thunder Studios Arena in nearby Long Beach, CA.
MLW is proud to welcome one of the most iconic figures in the history of lucha libre to the Battle RIOT: Atlantis. A true living legend, Atlantis brings with him over four decades of experience, global acclaim, and a legacy unmatched in the sport.
Debuting on July 11, 1983, at the historic Pista Arena Revolución in Mexico City, Atlantis quickly rose to superstardom, earning the nickname El Ídolo de los Niños for his thrilling style and unwavering connection to fans. Known for his devastating submission hold, La Atlántida, Atlantis has conquered opponents across the globe and cemented his name as the standard bearer of Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL).
Throughout his legendary career, Atlantis has claimed some of lucha libre’s most historic victories, including unmasking titans such as Talismán, Hombre Bala, Tierra, Viento y Fuego, Kung Fu, Mano Negra, and perhaps most famously, Villano III in a match that sold out a week in advance and is still talked about to this day.
Atlantis is no stranger to the international spotlight, having toured Japan more than 20 times and starred in lucha-themed films such as La Revancha, Atlantis al Rescate, and Atlantis, una Aventura Mágica. His blend of charisma, ring intelligence, and timeless technique makes him a true global ambassador of the sport.
Now, Atlantis enters MLW’s most unpredictable match—the 40-wrestler Battle RIOT—where eliminations happen by pinfall, submission, or being thrown over the top rope. Can Atlantis outlast 39 other fighters and take the MLW World Heavyweight Championship?
