Athletes have always been involved in wrestling, with famous examples including Mr. T at WrestleMania 1, Lawrence Taylor at WrestleMania X, Floyd Mayweather at WrestleMania 24, Dennis Rodman and Karl Malone at WCW Bash at the Beach 1998, and many more.
MMA fighters have become full-time wrestlers in the past with Ken Shamrock, Ronda Rousey, Dan Severn, and more finding success in the squared circle.
Speaking to The Schmo, Cody Rhodes was asked which athlete he'd like to see come to WWE.
"One I'd love to see dip his toes into the water with WWE would be Conor (McGregor). Just to dip his toes. The competition environment at WWE, the competition is different than what you might think. It's so much about who has the most dscipline, who is the most professional, getting there to the finish line, getting there to a WrestleMania. I feel like someone who has competed at the highest level like he has and so many amazing fights, it's time to maybe dip into the more entertainment side of sports entertainment. I think he'd be great at it, I do," he said.
Conor has traded social media shots with wrestlers in the past. He has not fought inside the Octagon since 2021.
Elsewhere during the interview, Cody commented on Goldust's place in WWE history. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
