CM Punk and Cody Rhodes exchange words on the microphone.
On the January 22 episode of WWE Raw, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes went face-to-face for the first time ever. Punk started off the promo by telling a story about Dusty Rhodes, as he remembered that Rhodes calling him to tell him about the arrival of Cody to Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2007. Punk recalled Rhodes telling him to take care of Cody. Punk then said he was proud of Rhodes for becoming a big superstar in recent years.
Punk then turned his attention to the Royal Rumble match and noted that he plans on breaking the promise that he made for Dusty during the match, as he will be looking to single out Cody during that match.
'The Best In The World' continued to heat up the kitchen after this, as he questioned if Rhodes is able to seperate business issues from personal issues. Punk also noted that his dad was an electrician, before saying that he is more of American Dream than Cody is.
Rhodes fired right back at Punk, as he referenced Punk's historic pipebomb promo from 2011. Rhodes called out Punk for not doing any of the things that he said in his promo before noting that he was actually the one to do those things, making him more CM Punk than CM Punk himself.
The promo segment came to an end after Punk teased Rhodes for having to suffer through a moment where a bigger star comes and takes his spot. Punk noted that he was referencing himself in this line.
