Cody Rhodes Saves Kevin Owens From The Bloodline At The End Of WWE SmackDown

Cody Rhodes may be forming an alliance of circumstance with Roman Reigns heading into WWE Bad Blood, but he hasn't forgotten those who had stuck by him for the long haul in his fight with Solo Sikoa's sadistic vision for The Bloodline.

In the main event of WWE SmackDown on September 20th, The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) teamed with Kevin Owens to do battle with The Bloodline's Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa.

The match broke down into chaos at the end, with no official winner being declared.

In the post-match brawl, The Bloodline laid waste to The Street Profits. Even though #DIY's Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano, Kevin Owens' original partners for the evening before they were taken out backstage by The Bloodline, tried to come back and exact revenge on the ice-cold islanders, they would also become overwhelmed by the brute force of The Bloodline.

In the end, Cody Rhodes would be running to the ring with a steel chair that would allow Kevin Owens to stand tall at the show's end. Cody and Kevin eventually embraced in the ring. Still, Kevin Owens appeared conflicted about the upcoming tag team match with Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns on the same team against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.

Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens previously fought for the WWE Championship at WWE Bash in Berlin. Though their friendship was tested during the build-up to that match, they still appear to be friends and allies.

Cody Rhodes also had a confrontation with Roman Reigns that was previously filmed and aired on the September 20th episode of WWE SmackDown on USA. Learn more about that here.
