Cody Rhodes Wishes Bout With John Cena Was More About Title 17 Than Cena Wanting To Retire The Title

John Cena is looking to win his 17th WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 41 when he takes on Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

In the lead up to the match, Cena has said that if he wins, he will retire as the last real world champion.

Speaking to Michael Cole ahead of WrestleMania 41, Cody was asked about trying to prevent Cena from number 17.

"I wish that's what the match was related to more than the fact that here is John saying, 'I'm leaving and I'm trying to take [the title] with me. Now, I'm the one who has been tasked with safeguarding it for all of WWE and WWE's future," said Rhodes.

Rhodes has been the Undisputed WWE Championship since defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL.
