G4TV, the revived gaming network which featured WWE Superstar Xavier Woods (Austin Creed) as a host and regularly featured WWE and AEW superstars on their programming, has officially been shut down.
The news came courtesy of an exclusive report by Deadline which revealed the internal memo that was sent out from Comcast CEO Dave Scott which confirmed the shutdown of the network.
Team:
As you know, G4 was re-introduced last year to tap into the popularity of
gaming. We invested to create the new G4 as an online and TV destination for fans
to be entertained, be inspired, and connect with gaming content.Over the past several months, we worked hard to generate that interest in G4, but
viewership is low and the network has not achieved sustainable financial
results. This is certainly not what we hoped for, and, as a result, we have made the
very difficult decision to discontinue G4’s operations, effective immediately.
I know this is disappointing news, and I’m disappointed, too. I want to thank you
and everyone on the G4 team for the hard work and commitment to the network. Our human resources team is reaching out to you to provide you with support,
discuss other opportunities that may be available, and answer any questions you
may have.Thank you again for all of your hard work for G4.
The network relaunched in November 2021 and featured multiple WWE Superstars and guest appearances on Attack of the Show. Xavier Woods was a regular host of the weekly program and WWE even hosted a relaunched version of the G4 Arena television show hosted by Xavier Woods and Gina Darling.
In reaction to the news, Xavier Woods, like many hosts, alluded to finding out about the news via social media.

I’m a free agent now. Anyone need a TV/digital content host that specializes in video games? Lmao

I joined G4 to expand my expertise outside of esports and prove to the industry that I can do more than commentate video games.

I'm proud of the work we did with the @Xplay crew and enjoyed every minute working with our talented teams.
This is not the end for me in games media!
Finally, @Completionist.

RETROOOOOOOBUTION!
You inspire me to create and never once gave up on G4. I don't think anyone will ever understand how much you poured into this thing when you didn't have to.
Your passion is infectious and thank you for being an inspiration to me. pic.twitter.com/0XvqypBQ2k
That's all she wrote! To all the talented, funny, & creative people I worked with in my time there, will cherish it, but it's on to new beginnings. If you're looking for a Producer who also knows how to edit, write, shoot, and act I'm ya girl. https://t.co/LTXHvVueJG
