Daniel Bryan shares some of past memories with EVOLVE.
This coming Saturday, EVOLVE and WWE's partnership will be on full display as the promotion's 10th Anniversary show will stream live on the WWE Network. The match card is equipped with NXT Champion Adam Cole, EVOLVE Champion Austin Theory, an EVOLVE Tag Title match and there will be meet and greet sessions with NXT stars such as Undisputed ERA.
WWE has several videos posted on their YouTube channel which features current WWE talents speaking about their time as a part of EVOLVE and one-half of the current SmackDown Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan was included in that bunch. Bryan recalled his conversation with EVOLVE booker Gabe Sapolsky about coming up with the name for the promotion.
"Well it’s interesting, I wish I could’ve spent more time at EVOLVE. I was actually the one who came up with the name EVOLVE for the company, because I looked around at the wrestling industry and everything seemed like it hadn’t changed much or it was changing in a way that I didn’t like. Both in WWE, both on the independents and in Japan and I was like, ‘This whole thing, if we’re gonna remain popular, there needs to be an evolution. It can’t be a static product, things have to change’ and I got with Gabe [Sapolsky] and Gabe was telling me about his promotion stuff and I said, ‘Man, we should name it EVOLVE and that’ll be what this company represents.’” Bryan shared.
As the news of EVOLVE 131 streaming live on the WWE Network became public, AEW co-Executive Vice President Kenny Omega reacted to the show going head-to-head with Fight For The Fallen and for a recap of that situation, click here.
