Chelsea Green: We Need To Get Away From Calling WWE Women's United States Championship A Midcard Title

Chelsea Green says stop putting the title in the middle.

WWE introduced the WWE Women's United States Championship in November 2024. Chelsea Green became the inaugural champion by defeating Michin in the finals of a tournament at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, and she has reigned supreme ever since.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Chelsea Green was asked whether there was anything she wanted to do that felt like it was right in front of her.

“There’s a couple different things. First of all, I just feel like we need to get away from this whole quote-unquote ‘midcard title.’ It’s a title, it’s a title. Stop putting it in the middle. We can have the girls coming from all different areas. We can have the TNA girls, we can have the NXT girls, but we can also have the Charlottes, the Becky’s, and the Rheas. Let’s not put it in a category and call it something that it’s not. It’s silly. That’s annoying. It’s fucking annoying. I feel like we can have an open challenge, and we can get way more girls involved that are sitting at home. We have so many incredible talent that we haven’t seen, especially women in tag teams that haven’t had singles matches. Imagine Kacy getting in the ring and being able to fly around the way Alexa [Bliss] did with Nia [Jax] back in the day. I’d love to see that," Green said.

Green will defend the WWE Women's United States Championship against Michin on the January 31st episode of WWE SmackDown.
