David Finlay's dad can probably beat up your dad.
In fact, David Finlay's dad, Fit Finlay, could probably beat up your entire family. His name is Finlay, and he likes to fight, after all. But David says that the man is made of steel and there's no reason not to believe him.
David recently spoke with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp and spoke about his dad's WWE schedule, how cool it was to see him on TV as a kid, and just how tough the Irishman actually is.
"It was cool. I was in like seventh grade when he like debuted on Smackdown. I go to school the next week and all my friends are talking about it. But he's kind of indestructible, honestly. He's made of steel because he never complained. Like I didn't know he like anything was up. He like, he's fine. Even if he is hurt, he's too stubborn and old and Irish to be like, ‘Oh, I’m hurt.’ [He’s like,] ‘I'm fine.’ Like nothing, he's fine," Finlay stated.
David Finlay likes to fight, too. It must be something in the genetics. Something that wasn't genetic, however, was his dad's Irish accent.
While Fit was born in Ireland, and came with the accent, David was not. And when asked how many people were shocked that he didn't have an Irish accent, the New Japan star said that there were a lot.
"I think everyone assumes that I would have one because my dad kind of has one, but I grew up in Atlanta. Honestly, I can't hear it. I don't hear his accent. He sounds normal to me. Normal being like kind of American. But some people were surprised and then some people thought I did have an Irish accent and weren't sure like, ‘Wait, are you Irish?’ Like, ‘No, I mean, yes, but no, that's not where I grew up,'" Finlay said.
Finlay recently took on Zack Sabre Jr. at New Japan Pro Wrestling's Windy City Riot, in Chicago, Illinois.
