At NJPW Power Struggle earlier today, Shota Umino looked to take the IWGP United States Championship from Will Ospreay.

AEW Continental Classic 2024 Night Ten Recap

Prior to the match, it was shown how beloved Ospreay is in Japan, as his entrance had his name being chanted loud and proud by the crowd in attendance at Power Struggle.

The match itself was a very physical affair, with some incredible spots that have become common place in the match history of Will. However, Shota held his own through the intensity. In fact, late into the match, Jon Moxley would make his way down to the ringside area to cheer on his protoge.

At one point, it looked like Shota was about to shock "The Aerial Assasin" after a spinning Death Rider DDT, but Ospreay was able to kick out.

In the end, Ospreay was able to land a Death Rider DDT of his own, before landing his Storm Driver '93. Will would follow this up with a Hidden Blade followed by Stormbreaker for the victory.

After the match, Ospreay would bow to Shota, showing his respect for the young Japanese talent. With Ospreay's contract coming up in early 2024, the championship victory may be one of his last under the New Japan Pro Wrestling banner.

After this moment of respect, Jon Moxley and Ospreay would go face to face, with Will throwing down the IWGP US Title belt, noting that he made it irrelevant. However, just as it looked like the two men would come to blows, Bullet Club's David Finlay would hit the ring, attacking both men.

After the attack, Finlay would take a hammer and both IWGP US and UK championships, smashing the title belts into pieces.

Following the attack, Will Ospreay stated backstage that the three men will face off in a three way match for a new (or old) championship at Wrestle Kingdom 18.

Elsewhere on the show, Bryan Danielson laid down the challenge for a rematch with Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 18.
