Drew Gulak: My Goal Is To Compete At WWE WrestleMania 40, I'm More Focused Than Ever

Drew Gulak wants to compete at WWE WrestleMania 40

Gulak, who has been called the "Philadelphia Stretcher", hasn't competed at a WrestleMania since he lost to Cesaro at the Kickoff Show ahead WrestleMania 36. But with the announcement that Philadelphia will host WWE's biggest show of the year in 2024, the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion is determined to be a part of it.

During an appearance on WWE's The Bump, Gulak was asked about Philadelphia hosting WrestleMania 40, given his ties to "The City of Brotherly Love." He noted that seeing the Liberty Bell being incorporated into the WrestleMania logo was surreal. Gulak then stated that wrestling at the show is a goal that has been placed in front of him, and he feels notably motivated to make it happen.

“Yeah, the Liberty Bell front and center right there, it’s very surreal to see. WrestleMania 15 was in Philly, that’s a show that holds a very special place in my heart. So I usually don’t have goals with my wrestling career. That is a very gigantic one that has been placed in front of me by the Powers That Be. I have never been more focused than I have in my entire life on my in-ring career than I am now, with that kind of lighting a fire under my behind," Gulak said.

Matt Camp pitched the idea of Gulak teaming up with Philadelphia mascots The Phillie Phanatic, Gritty, and Swoop to take on The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio & Rhea Ripley). Gulak expressed his excitement and jokingly described how, in Philadelphia, the Phillie Phanatic is practically on the same level as the President of the United States.

“I would lose my mind. Just having the Fanatic is on another level of royalty. If you’re not from Philadelphia, you may not understand, but the Phillie Phanatic… it’s like the President, and then the Phillie Phanatic. That’s how it is. That’s the tier. Sometimes not even that, he’s above the President," he said.

WrestleMania 40 is still a long way away. For now, Gulak is focused on NXT, as he recently returned to the brand. Check out Gulak's comments about the situation here.
