Drew McIntyre Injury Update, Timetable For Return

Drew McIntyre is looking at several months on the shelf.

The now-former NXT Champion is sidelined with an injury he suffered during his NXT Takeover: WarGames match with Andrade 'Cien' Almas a couple of weeks back. Unfortunately due to extenuating circumstances, the MRI had to be delayed.

AEW Worlds End (12/28/2024) Results: Continental Classic Finals, Jon Moxley, MJF, Mercedes Moné, More

Pro Wrestling Sheet stated today that McIntyre has a torn biceps muscle, which occurred towards the end of the match. They also stated that McIntyre hopes to be back in time for WrestleMania weekend. When Fightful inquired about that timetable, we were told that was in line with what WWE was looking at.

Bicep injuries have seen varying lengths to heal up. Batista returned from his in just three months in 2009, while Scott Dawson has been sidelined throughout the entire fall after suffering his own this year. Between 2002 and 2003, Bradshaw would miss six months as he healed up from a torn bicep.

McIntyre tweeted Monday Morning, indicating that he'll return to NXT upon his injury healing. “Unfortunately I did suffer an injury during my title defense at TakeOver. I’ve dealt with setbacks before. The reality is, I always come back better…There’s a scary thought for whomever is NXT champion come 2018… #TickTock.”
