Gunther still reigns.
Gunther made short work of Matt Riddle at WWE Money in the Bank, tapping him out to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
The finish saw Gunther slap the injured ankle of Riddle before submitting him with an ankle lock.
As Gunther was basking in his victory, Drew McIntyre made his return to a thunderous ovation, confronting Gunther. Drew took out Gunther with a Glasgow kiss followed by a Claymore. He then posed with the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

McIntyre had not been seen since he lost to Gunther at WrestleMania 39 in a triple threat match that also involved Sheamus.
With this victory, Gunther has now made 12 successful title defenses. He won the title on the June 10, 2022 episode of WWE SmackDown from Ricochet.
