El Desperado wins his first NJPW Best of Super Juniors tournament.
El Desperado defeated Taiji Ishimori in the finals of NJPW Best of Super Juniors 31 to win the tournament.
The finish saw Desperado hit a tiger driver followed by Pinche Loco for the victory.
With this victory, Desperado earns a shot at SHO and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title. He challenged SHO to a steel cage match for the title.

This marks the first time Desperado has won Best of the Super Juniors.
He finished first in A Block with a 6-3 record and defeated DOUKI in the semifinals.
