El Phantasmo: We Need To Let Go Of The Past, We Need To Say Goodbye To Guerrillas of Destiny

El Phantasmo is focused on the future.

El Phantasmo had been absent from NJPW for several weeks, as he last wrestled for the company at the G1 Climax 34 event on August 18th. He competed for RevPro and GWF over the next few weeks, and he returned to NJPW at their Destruction in Kobe event. He made the save during Hiroshi Tanahashi's match, and his involvement helped Tanahashi, Oleg Boltin, and Toru Yano retain the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championship.

Gable Steveson: I Was Supposed To Return To Amateur Wrestling In 2023, But The Timing Wasn't Right

In his post-match comments, El Phantasmo commented on his return.

“New Japan is my home. I want to be in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Jado, I am sorry it took me a month, but I figured out what was wrong and what I need to do, what we need to do. We need to let go of the past. We need to say goodbye to GoD. Guerrillas of Destiny was a good time in our lives, but now, that’s behind us. We need to focus on the future. My goals in New Japan Pro-Wrestling start now. I want to main event Ryogoku Hall. I want to win big matches in Osaka, I want to have marquee matches inside the Tokyo Dome. I want to do fan signings with everybody who’s supported me in Japan. I want to represent this company as the best professional wrestling company on the planet, and I’m gonna do that by becoming one of the best professional wrestlers on the planet today. For a long time, I’ve been underrated, and I’m gonna do everything in my power to get rid of that word associated with my name," Phantasmo said.

Tanahashi then approached Phantasmo, who said that he respected everything he has done for NJPW. He told Tanahashi that he wanted to show him how much NJPW meant to him, and he said that he wanted to follow the legacy that the former world champion built. Tanahashi answered by shaking his hands.

Phantasmo previously teamed up with Hikuleo and had been a member of the Guerrillas of Destiny. The stable gradually broke up, as Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa left NJPW and signed with WWE. Fightful Select has reported that Hikuleo has signed with WWE as well.
