Akira Tozawa reflects on the origin of his pairing with Alpha Academy.
Over the course of several weeks in October 2023, Akira Tozawa gradually joined Chad Gable, Otis, and Maxxine Dupri in Alpha Academy, as his dance moves won over the group. He was initially named a junior member before he fully joined the stable. During this run, he has been featured on WWE Raw, and he has also competed on NXT. There, he unsuccessfully challenged Noam Dar for the NXT Heritage Cup. The former WWE 24/7 Champion has also clashed with Ivar on multiple occasions.
Speaking with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp ahead of WWE Royal Rumble, Akira Tozawa was asked to describe how pitched the idea of him working with Alpha Academy.
"Backstage, I was doing the Tozawa shuffle, that was random, I was just being Tozawa, natural Tozawa. They loved it. A couple of weeks ago, I realized, I rip the shirt, and people [cheer loudly]," Tozawa said.
