Bronson Reed Says Paul Heyman Helped Him Craft 'Mr. Nice Guy' Persona, 'It's Based On A Hitman For Hire'

Bronson Reed reflects on his brief role as "Mr. Nice Guy."

Upon returning to WWE in December 2022, Bronson Reed was briefly presented in vignettes as "Mr. Nice Guy." While that particular gimmick didn't go too far, Reed does say he worked with Paul Heyman on crafting the gimmick.

Four-Way Match Added To AEW Full Gear: Zero Hour

Bronson Reed discussed in the short-lived presentation during a recent interview with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp. Reed says the gimmick was based on his true self to a degree, and the idea was to present himself as a nice guy who does what he has to do to take care of his family, similar to how Kevin Owens debuted in WWE as a prize fighter.

“It was basically, it was based on myself, to a degree, but I was working with Paul Heyman, and he came up with the ‘Mr. Nice Guy’ tagline, and basically, it’s just, in my life, I’m the good guy. I always say that. I’m a dad now, I’m a loving husband, I do everything I can to be a nice guy, but when it comes to being in the ring, I have to be a killer. So that’s sort of what that character is based on. It’s almost based on a hitman for hire. You see these hitmen in their everyday lives. They’re normal guys with families and stuff. They just happen to go kill people at night [laughs]. So that’s 'Mr. Nice Guy.'"
