Bronson Reed On WWE Return: I Was Hitting My Stride In NJPW, But I Wanted To Play On Triple H's Team

Bronson Reed discusses what led to his WWE comeback.

Following his departure from WWE in 2021, Bronson Reed established himself in brands such as TNS Wrestling and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. NJPW showed confidence in Reed, even awarding him a victory against Kazuchika Okada. Still, Bronson Reed eventually chose to return to WWE.

Speaking about the return to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Reed admitted he was hitting his stride in NJPW, a promotion where he initially thought he would make most of his impact in wrestling before going to WWE.

Reed credits his relationship with Triple H as one of the factors that led to his return to WWE. Another major factor was his desire to do more on the main roster than he had initially gotten a chance to do.

“It was very welcomed. I mean, at the same time, I was sort of hitting my stride with New Japan Pro Wrestling, and I have a deep love for Japanese style wrestling. When I was a teenager, I got into that, and because there were no Australian wrestlers in WWE, I thought that would be my career. I thought I’d be a Japanese wrestler and that was it. But then when WWE became a full-circle thing, when I got released, there was so much I hadn’t done. I hadn’t been on a Monday Night Raw. I hadn’t been on a SmackDown, pay-per-view, all these things. So when Hunter called me and we spoke about everything, that was definitely a deciding factor. But I have a good relationship with Triple H, and I definitely wanted to play on his team."

In the past, Reed has admitted that he initiated contact with Triple H. Read more about that story here.
