Eric Young is working under an agreement, at least for now.
Young, who returned to IMPACT Wrestling at Slammiversary, was the guest on The Wrestling Perspective Podcast with Dennis Farrell and Lars Frederiksen's August 7th, 2023 episode.
The former NXT Tag Team Champion and leader of the stable Sanity was asked about possibly sliding into a producer role with IMPACT Wrestling. Eric Young said he would cross that bridge when it came time. Young stated he only has an agreement with the President of IMPACT Wrestling, Scott D’Amore.
Young would say, “I think it's something that we could cross that bridge as far as contracts go. I'm under an agreement with Scott right now, and we're working on it. There's actually some really cool stuff that will probably come out in October/November. An opportunity I have with Anthem and with Access. So the deal is really complicated, and that's why it's kind of taking so long, but I will definitely be there up until the Emergence Pay-Per-View in Toronto and hope to be past that as well. I would be very surprised if we didn't work something out.”
Young was under contract with the WWE but cited moral reasoning for not wanting to stay in the WWE. Fightful Select has confirmed that Young asked for his release in April 2023, was granted it, and finished out his 90-day no-compete clause. Young didn’t want to work with Vince McMahon after the Endeavor deal was announced and with McMahon back in the fold in an official capacity.
"A man can be killed, a body can be disposed of; flesh can be removed. But, an idea is eternal; it can live forever. I'm more than a man, more than life, more than death. I am an idea, and I will live forever."@TheEricYoung #IMPACTonAXSTV pic.twitter.com/U1q5lPQBk5
