Christopher Daniels is widely known as a workhorse in pro wrestling, but a match from 2005 TNA is often regarded as his masterpiece.
The main event of TNA Unbreakable 2005, Christopher Daniels' defense of his X-Division championship against AJ Styles and Samoa Joe has received critical praise since it happened, and was even the subject of a recent retro review here at Fightful. I was able to speak to Christopher Daniels ahead of his ROH Tag Title match at Death Before Dishonor about his memories of the instant classic.
"That was lightning in a bottle. The feeling about myself, AJ, and Joe and our careers at that point and the fact that TNA was giving three guys a shot that they didn't necessarily push towards the main event that slot -- I think we had a lot of good will from the fans on our side, and I think that's one of the reasons that particular match has held up over the years. I think people look at it as the promise of what TNA could have been if they completely put the ball in our hands and let us go with it," said Daniels.
Daniels would end up on the losing end of the match, being pinned by AJ Styles. Now, all three men are out of the company, with Daniels becoming ROH World Champion, Joe an NXT Champion, and AJ Styles serving as one of the longest reigning WWE Champions in modern history.
You can catch Daniels as he teams with fellow member of Addiction and SCU, Kazarian. They took on The Briscoes for the ROH World Tag Team Champions at ROH Death Before Dishonor on September 28. You can order the show on ROH's HonorClub service, or via PPV on Fite.
