Despite being a major wrestling star thanks to Lucha Underground, Pentagon Jr. said he still has work to do before becoming the best wrestler in the world.
In an interview with Fightful, the Lucha Underground champion spoke on wanting to be the biggest star in the industry. Pentagon Jr. said he wants to be the an icon for the Mexican people and that he looks up to Rey Mysterio and Alberto El Patron as examples to follow, hoping that he reaches their level of stardom one day.
“The truth is, I’ve had the good fortune of facing the best in the world. I feel ready and prepared to keep working hard and I want to be the No. 1 wrestler in the world. I want to be a representative for the Latino community and represent all Mexicans in what I do best. I know I have ahead of me in that aspect Rey Mysterio and Alberto El Patron and they serve as an example for me to follow to hopefully one day be a superstar of their level,” Pentagon Jr.
One thing that Mysterio and El Patron do have in common is their popularity was reached thanks in large part to their success in WWE. In regards to Pentagon Jr. potentially joining WWE in the future, the Lucha Underground star did say that the company has not yet contacted him about any type of deal.
“No, they have never contacted me yet for anything,” Pentagon Jr. said.
Pentagon Jr. will have a major presence in the American wrestling television market throughout 2018. Aside from being a part of the fourth season of Lucha Underground, Pentagon Jr. also wrestled on Impact Wrestling, where he faced Austin Aries and Fenix for the Impact World Championship at the Redemption pay-per-view on April 22.
