EXCLUSIVE: WWE Cruiserweight Once Tried To Shoot On Matt Riddle

Matt Riddle says he prefers to "shoot" a little bit in the ring.

The amateur wrestler and Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt says he likes going into a professional wrestling ring with as little as possible planned. During his weekly podcast with Fightful Wrestling, Riddle was asked if anyone had tried to "shoot" on him since he has a mixed-martial-arts and grappling background.

"Of course, multiple times," said Riddle. "I would say (Drew) Gulak. I only had one (match with Gulak), but it was pretty good early on in my career, because he would be like 'fight me' and I'd beat him up and then he'd start fighting back. Something like that instead of 'here's the spots', I personally prefer that. I'd rather to shoot back and forth and like this weekend I'm wrestling David Starr at CZW and I'm not calling anything. I'm just gonna go out there. Because I watched our last match, and the only parts of the match I didn't like was when we were actually calling spots and running around. Not saying we can't, you can be like 'hey I'm might dive on you this many times and do this' and I'll be like 'ok'. " continued Riddle.

Riddle faces David Starr at CZW's anniversary show Saturday February 11th. The match is advertised as Riddle's Progress Atlas Championship versus Starr's WXW Shotgun Title. This week's Brocast was the monthly mailbag episode where Riddle answered questions about talking to William Regal and fighting mythological creatures.

Fightful's Brocast with Sean Ross Sapp and Matt Riddle airs live on Thursday afternoons for members. Registering for Fightful.com is free and gives immediate access to exclusive podcasts, including the Friday show with Hurricane Shane Helms.
