WWE's return to Saudi Arabia is set.
Fightful has learned that WWE's next event in Saudi Arabia will take place on Friday, May 3.
This will mark the third time WWE has ventured to Saudi Arabia and their first event since Crown Jewel on November 2, 2018. WWE signed a 10-year partnership in 2018 with the Saudi General Sports Authority to bring annual WWE events to Saudi Arabia in support of Saudi Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia's social and economic reform program.
The Wrestling Observer first reported that WWE would be returning to Saudi Arabia in May and November of this year.
The first event, Greatest Royal Rumble was held on April 27, 2018.
WWE received heavy criticism from the mainstream media and fans for choosing to return in November for Crown Jewel after it was reported that the Saudi government was involved in the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Despite criticism, WWE moved forward with the event as scheduled. References to Saudi Arabia prior to the event were removed from WWE's website and no mention of the location was made on television.
