Finn Balor And Damian Priest On Dominik Mysterio's Growth: He’s Proven That He Is A Star

Finn Balor and Damian Priest speak highly of Dominik Mysterio.

Dominik Mysterio joined WWE in 2020 and teamed up with his father, Rey Mysterio. In 2022, Dominik joined The Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Finn Balor, and Rhea Ripley), and he has remained featured on WWE programming ever since. During this run, Dominik has turned into one of the top heels on the roster, as he consistently gets some of the loudest reactions of the night. He has also captured his first singles title, as he had a brief run as NXT North American Champion.

Speaking with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp at a media event ahead of WWE WrestleMania 40, Finn Balor and Damian Priest were asked about helping Dominik.

"That was the point of the Judgment Day. We saw Dominik and we was just Rey Mysterio’s son. Now he’s Dirty Dom. He does his own thing, he’s his own star. We don’t need to lift him up, he does that himself. If anything, now he adds to the Judgment Day with his own style and own flavor. We’re proud of him. It’s been cool to see how much he’s changed. If you look at him when he first joined Judgment Day to today, it’s a different guy. He keeps evolving, keeps getting better. I can only imagine ten years from now where he’s going to be," Priest said.

Balor expressed his agreement and noted that people were critical of Dominiik early on. He emphasized that Dominik was put in a difficult spot, as he had to learn on live programming every single week. Balor made it clear that Dominik has proven his doubters wrong.

"I agree. I feel like the media jumped on Dom’s back very very early and the fans jumped on his back very early saying, ‘this little punk, he’s not grateful, he’s just been given this opportunity.’ Little do people realize that Dominik was learning the most difficult skill on earth, to be a professional wrestler live on television. Live on Raw every single week. He wasn’t learning in a gym or on the Indies where you’re afforded these chances to mess up and it’s kind of excused. He learned on live TV, on pay-per-view, at the ThunderDome on Raw, SmackDown, and NXT. He’s proven himself over the course of the last two and a half years that he is a star. He’s proven everyone wrong because everyone was on Dominik’s case when he started. Everyone thought ‘this kid doesn’t belong.’ Everyone said, ‘He’s just there because his dad is Rey Mysterio," Balor said.

Rhea Ripley recently praised Dominik Mysterio. Check out her comments here.
