Leyton Buzzard says Will Ospreay is leaving the British independent scene in a better place than it was years ago.
Ospreay is currently set to compete in his final match before he makes his way over to All Elite Wrestling in time for AEW Revolution and a bout with Konosuke Takeshita. On February 18th, he will look to win the RevPro British Heavyweight Championship when he completes his trilogy with the current champion Michael Oku.
One man familar with Ospreay is Leyton Buzzard, who while speaking to Fightful, stated that no one deserves this more than 'The Aerial Assasin.'
"Yeah I think anyone who's anyone in wrestling is going to agree that no one deserves this more than Will Ospreay. He's given his life to this sport. A lot of people don't know. But he's helped so many people along the way. So many people that he didn't have to help. He's brought so many people up around him. I feel like Will Ospreay is now leaving the British scene in such a better place than it was five years ago, post-COVID. It's because he's been stepping in there with these guys, all these guys in RevPro, he's stepping in there with guys like me and Oku and Luke Jacobs. He's stepping in there with these people and he's elevating them. Because every time, you know, he says it in his theme song, every time you step in the ring with Will Ospreay, you're elevating, you're going to that next level. As a professional wrestler, that's what it's all about, is getting to that next level and every time Will Ospreay wrestles someone, he brings them up to his level as well. I think that's what he's going to be remembered for, man, is not just bringing himself up, but bringing everyone else up around him. No one deserves it more. Everyone over here is so excited to see what he's going to do in AEW. Well, everyone already knows what he's going to show everyone."
Leyton continued, delving into how there is a spot now open for the next star of the UK Independent scene.
"I think now he's leaving. There definitely is that spot, right? He's been the ace for however long and there definitely is that spot and I think a lot of people are going to be coming for it and I think it's a really exciting time for professional wrestling. But yeah, I think with him leaving, he's done everything he could. I think for him, that was one of the things that he wanted to make sure of before he left. Before he left, before he went to America, before he goes to AEW, he wanted to make sure that he'd done everything he could to make sure that British wrestling is in the best possible position it could be when he leaves, and I think that's what he's done and I think that's what he's doing. You know, this Sunday, what a way to finish, right? Close the trilogy with Michael Oku. I know it's going to be an absolutely ridiculous match. I know people, it's going to be emotional. People are going to be sad to see him go. But yeah, I'm so grateful for everything he's done for British wrestling. No one deserves it more. Now he's going, it's going to be an interesting time because everyone's going to be coming for that spot and everyone's hungry and I can't wait to see what happens in British Wrestling."
Buzzard previously wrestled Ospreay back in February of last year, with Ospreay scoring the victory.
