Maxxine Dupri Says Liv Morgan Helped Her Adjust To Main Roster After Being Called Up On Short Notice

Maxxine Dupri talks about being called up to the main roster, Liv Morgan helping her adjust, working with the Maximum Male Models, and the rise of LA Knight.

After a short time on the NXT roster, Maxxine Dupri, formerly Sofia Cromwell, was called up to the main roster of WWE to be the sister of Max Dupri (LA Knight). She debuted on the July 22, 2022 episode of WWE SmackDown and took the reins of Maximum Male Models.

Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp in an interview recorded before WWE SummerSlam 2023, Dupri revealed that she was called up to the main roster on very short notice, but thankfully for her, Liv Morgan took her under her wing and helped her adjust to the main roster.

"It was wild. I had like a four-hour notice," she said. "I was very nervous; I was not really on NXT. It was funny because I did kind of have a feeling. I don't know why; I had no reason to have that feeling, but I was just like, 'I feel like it could be me.' Then, I went to sleep Wednesday, and I didn't get a text or anything, and then, Thursday morning, I found out I was doing it for TV. It was crazy. It was nerve-racking.

"My first day, Liv Morgan took me under her wing and showed me catering, where to get my makeup done, and how to prepare," she continued. "It was a crazy, crazy, high-stress day, but I'm so grateful for it."

Before she was paired with Alpha Academy's Chad Gable & Otis, Dupri was working with the Maximum Male Models, ma.çé & mån.sôör. Maxxine says she will always be grateful for that time in her career because working with the Maximum Male Models helped her come into her own as a character, which has helped her now that she is paired with Alpha Academy.

"I think that phase of my career with something that will always be so special to me," she said. "It was so much fun. I came into my own and really developed who I am, and my voice, and I really got to work on all of those skills, which was really cool. That's what makes it so cool. Now that I'm with [Alpha Academy], I'm getting to work in all those interviewing skills and be more well-rounded. So, I'm just grateful for all the amazing people in this company that I've gotten to work so closely with."

Regarding the rise of LA Knight, definitely known as Max Dupri, Maxxine says she's happy to see Knight attaining such success but will never forget her "brother" abandoning her and their modeling agency.

"Yeah, I was in NXT when he was LA Knight, so I saw that unfolding. It's great. I'm happy for him, except when he left me as my brother, but it's fine. He's absolutely killing it," she said.

Knight previously said he believed he would be on the chopping block prior to the Max Dupri angle. Fans can read more about that here.

In the past, Dupri spoke in greater detail about her main roster call up and how she feels that fracturing her fibula ultimately helped her. Fans can read more about that here.

Elsewhere in this interview, Maxxine discussed her jitters prior to her first match with Valhalla on Monday Night Raw. Read more here.
