Mike Rotch Recalls Getting Two Cease And Desists From Lego, 'They Were Very Cordial About It'

Mike Rotch recalls getting two seperate cease and desist letters from Lego.

Interspecies Wrestling is one of the most popular promotions in Canada. The company is known for often hosting wild stipulation matches such as a '1,000,000 blocks deathmatch' or a 'Boner In The Bank six way ladder match'.

The promotion is owned by Mike Rotch, who recently joined Fightful Overbooked's Indied podcast for a new interview.

In the interview, Rotch recalled getting a cease and desist from Lego after a shirt went up on Pro Wrestling Tees that mentioned Lego.

“So the first time, we had a shirt up on Pro Wrestling Tees and it didn’t say Lego on it or anything, it was Japanese writing. It was the logo of the raccoon getting curb stomped into Lego blocks. But when they put the shirt up, the used the title Lego Deathmatch. Then Lego’s lawyers sent them a letter asking them to take it down, and they sent it to me, like whatever, just take it down, it’s not that important.”

Rotch then recalled getting a second cease and desist from the company after their logo was featured on a poster for the event, which was going to feature a Lego deathmatch.

“The second time was during the week of the Collective. I received another letter from them because the person who did our graphics used the Lego logo on the poster. Lego had an event that week at Barclays Center, which is not far from where we were running, and they just didn’t want it to be confused with a real and actually endorsed Lego event, so they asked us to remove the Lego and cease referring to it as a Lego deathmatch. They were very cordial about it, they weren’t like, ‘We’re gonna sue the fuck out of you’ or anything like that. They're just like, ‘Hey man, just work with us.’ I’m a reasonable person obviously."

Elsewhere in the interview, Sean Henderson talked about booking Too Cold Scorpio for SHP events. Fans can learn more here.
